crazy weekend

this was one of the craziest weekends that we have had on the farm for a while. we had to do about 3 game drives every day and because i hadn't done any game drives in a while i did all of them for about two hours each. we got to see a lot of different animals over the weekend from giraffe to zebra to impala and we managed to find the secretary birds and a breeding pain of black chested snake eagle. the most awesome thing i saw this weekend with guests was the blue gnu males trotting up and down for hours along side the herd of females to show off their stuff. what they did is the different males which were challenging each other would meet in the heard. then the dominant male would start chasing the lesser male so to say and they would run in circles around the rest of the heard. while they chasing each other they basically start to trot just like a horse. then the males ran away from the heard still chasing each other but more aggressively now, the females and younger males running after them. when the males stopped them they turned onto each other and locked horns and fought for dominance. this was quite an interesting view to watch as it is out of the normal ways of the gnu which usually just stands and eats grass. the most beautiful thing that i had a chance to see was a zebra standing in the middle of my favorite water hole drinking water. i really wish that i could have taken a photo but unfortunately the camera decided to go on strike. but the weekend comes to an end at last and its time to do home and do dishes and washing and wait for the misses to come home. thank you for reading my blog and keep well
